Combines milk thistle extract, containing silymarin (and its active constituent, silybin), choline and probiotic lactobacilli bacteria in a single dosage form. Silymarin (from milk thistle extract), has a long standing traditional use for its liver protective properties, especially for reducing liver injury, protecting the liver from toxins, promoting liver repair, and improving liver function in individuals suffering from liver diseases. Choline is a key nutrient in the normal metabolism and transports of fats (lipids) in the body. Choline deficiency can cause an abnormal deposition of fat in the liver. Probiotics have a role in protecting the liver, including through their action in enhancing the barrier function of the gut, reducing the exposure of the liver to pathogenic bacterial translocation from the GI tract, and by reducing bacterial overgrowth of gram-negative bacteria. Probiotics can also control immune and pro-inflammatory responses in the body, including the liver.
